British Council

The British Council promotes contemporary and innovative writing in English by Sri Lankan writers in addition to showcasing diverse contemporary British writing to young audiences in Sri Lanka.
We work with partners such as the Gratiaen Trust to develop ‘animating literature’ projects that bring literature to life through our Book Buzz series: events range from readings, performances, ‘Wine and Book tastings’, creative writing workshops and poetry slams.
The British Council in 2004 initiated and set up the online writers’ website www.writeclique.net providing writers ‘publishing’ space and a wider readership in a virtual environment.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands has actively participated in a major restoration and conservation programme of the Galle Fort, an unique heritage site, transforming it into a more suitable venue to conduct any event of international standing.
