Michael Meyler first came to Sri Lanka as an English teacher in 1985. Since 1995 he has been working at the British Council in Colombo, where he teaches beginners’ courses in colloquial Sinhala and Tamil. His book, A Dictionary of Sri Lankan English, was published in 2007, together with the associated website www.mirisgala.net. He also co-produced (together with Sandi Titus) the trilingual children’s book Keerthihan’s Kite, published in 2009. Last year he was one of the judges of the Gratiaen Prize 2008.
