Blaft Publications, India's hippest new small press, was launched in May 2008. It is an independent publishing house based in Chennai, India. The list includes bestselling Indian crime novels, experimental fiction, pulp art, and graphic novels. In the future, Blaft Publications plans to branch out into encyclopaedias, kitchen appliances and designer underwear.
Kaveri Lalchand from Blaft Publications, comes to Galle to speak about their books, the bestselling authors from the Indian subcontinent you've never heard of before, and to introduce to you the work of the pulp fiction masters of the Hindi, Urdu, and Tamil languages, along with a short storytelling of folktales from Tamil Nadu, and a slideshow of pulp cover art. In addition to publishing books, Kaveri Lalchand is a stage actress, a clothing designer, a garment exporter, and runs a store and event space in Chennai called "The Madras Terrace House". She is passionate about dance, the culinary arts, travel, meditation, and old buildings.
