This panel brings together a wife and husband writer team, both distinguished Sri Lankan writers working in many genres, whose body of work is exemplary.

The multiple award-winning Jean Arasanayagam reads and discusses her poetry whose themes include ethnicity, gender, inheritance, politics, travel and post colonialism.

Thiagaraja Arasanayagam is the winner of the prestigious Gratiaen Award 2015, awarded in 2016 for his collection of poetry ‘White Lanterns: Wesak 2011’. The collection was commended by the judges for the beguiling simplicity with which it speaks of “regret, rage, shame and impunity…of the darkest moments in our recent, shared history.”

Jean and Thiagaraja Arasanayagam’s travel is sponsored by the Gratiaen Trust.
