The “Modern Movement” in architecture transformed itself in Sri Lanka, from being an “International Style” to one wholly rooted in the building traditions of the country, while at the same time, taking on board the salient principles of the movement.

This illuminating excursion, led by well-known architect Channa Daswatte, took guests on an in-depth look at buildings that are part of the modern architectural history of Sri Lanka. These locations included The SOS Children’s Village, the Kerry Hill House and the Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel.
