Deborah Baker’s books have been shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize in biography and the National Book Award in narrative non-fiction. She has been the recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, a Whiting Narrative Non-fiction award and has been a Fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. Her book Charlottesville: An American Story, about the Unite the Right rally that took place there in 2017, was published in the summer of 2025. She lives in Brooklyn and Charlottesville.
