Theseus Chan
Speaker
Theseus Chan, born in Singapore, is a graphic artist and publisher who moves between design, publishing, and art. Through his studio WORK (1997) and WERK Magazine (2000), he has turned the printed page into a site of experiment, embracing unstable printing, unconventional materials, and imperfection as form. He has collaborated with Gerhard Steidl, Comme des Garçons, Louis Vuitton, and Dover Street Market, and exhibited at institutions including Kunsthaus Göttingen, Cooper Hewitt, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, M+ Hong Kong, and the Museum of Avant Garde in Switzerland. Awarded Singapore’s first Designer of the Year and multiple D&AD Pencils, Chan continues to treat publishing as both artefact and provocation.
In 2025, marking 25 years of independent publishing, Chan released WERK No. 34: Doornberg Galle 1712 and WERK No. 35: Unfinished Work, carrying forward his belief in the book as a living, unfinished work of art.
