Caroline Eden is a writer, literary critic and author who has travelled extensively to countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and Bangladesh, documenting her experiences across multiple publications, as well as on BBC Radio 4’s ‘From Our Own Correspondent’.
Over the years her books – including Samarkand, Black Sea, Red Sands and Green Mountains – have been reviewed and recommended in The New Yorker, New York Times, WSJ, The Guardian, Financial Times, Sunday Times and many other magazines and newspapers. She has been awarded both the prestigious Art of Eating Prize in the US and the André Simon Award in the UK.
Her recent memoir Cold Kitchen, celebrating the importance of curiosity and of feeling at home in the world, opens in Uzbekistan and concludes in Ukraine. It was “a best summer read” for both the Financial Times and The Observer. She lives in Edinburgh.
