Chalana is known for his work in regenerative tourism, driving hospitality with a purpose beyond profits. As the founder of RETRACETM Hospitality, Chalana has advised hospitality and tourism investors, developers, operators, non-profits and government agencies globally on strategic initiatives that prioritise destination stewardship. His work focuses on aligning tourism with nature-based solutions and community-led cooperation, aiming to regenerate resources while designing purpose-led products and experiences.

Chalana worked with institutional hospitality investors and global brands like citizenM and YAYS. He is a certified Climate Reality Leader, sits on the Hospitality World Net Panel on Sustainability and is an alumnus of the renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland). Chalana is a contributing author to global literature on regenerative hospitality and developed the first sustainable tourism module for Sri Lanka’s Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management. He speaks on the future of hospitality and travel at various conferences in Asia and Europe.
