Gihan de Chickera is a political cartoonist whose works have been published in the Daily Mirror newspaper since 2004. In 2012, Gihan won Cartoonist of the Year at the Journalism Awards, Sri Lanka for Excellence, and won a merit award for the same in 2015. In 2011, he was selected to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the US for political cartoonists from South Asia and the Middle East. He is also involved in theatre and is an English teacher, who is based in Colombo. His cartoons were featured on ARTRA Magazine’s Comics
and Caricatures Edition (2023) alongside the works of Aubrey Collette and Bevis Bawa, whilst also being featured in the podcasts of the Himal South Asian magazine.
