The Crescent Ladies Welfare Association

Host

The Crescent Ladies Welfare Association was established in 1965 as the visionary idea of two gentlemen, a banker and a lawyer, from the historic Galle Fort. Inspired by their suggestion, a group of ten dedicated ladies from Galle Fort embarked on a mission to assist the less fortunate. Their inaugural project involved constructing a home for a struggling family, marking the beginning of a legacy of benevolence.

The association’s commitment has extended to various endeavours, including purchasing mattresses for a Base Hospital ward, providing wheelchairs, orchestrating a significant dental camp in collaboration with Kuwaiti Dentists, distributing eyeglasses to those in need, and acquiring schoolbooks. These initiatives have been made possible through funds raised from both members and well-wishers.

As we reflect on our past accomplishments, we look to the future with a sense of purpose and determination. The continuation of our impactful work hinges on the ongoing support and collaboration of our dedicated colleagues and well-wishers who share our vision of making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.
