Shanya Perera

Shanya Perera is a drama teacher and performer with over five years of experience in Speech and Drama. She holds a Licentiate of Trinity College London Diploma. Shanya’s theatre journey began at the age of eight at Stagecraft: School of Performing Arts, where she studied under Suranjika Bartholomeusz.
In 2021, Shanya wrote and acted in “Paper Planes,” a short film that won five awards at the Life Short Film Competition. She has also performed in “She,” a trilingual video by Mind Adventures Theatre Company celebrating Women’s Day, and “No Rain, No Flowers,” a group drama highlighting social issues faced by women.
Shanya’s stage credits include productions such as “Elephant Song,” organized by RARE, and “Home Fires Should Not Be Put Outside,” a Newspaper Theatre piece by the Women’s Education and Research Centre. Her recent performances include “Chaos Lounge” and “Cashme.lk.” Shanya was also part of a year-long project using stage performance to raise awareness about gender-based violence in Sri Lanka.
