How did Humpty Dumpty fall? Can we know? Must we ask?

THE KING HAS PROMISED ME — WITH HIS VERY OWN MOUTH — TO — TO —

Did Humpty Dumpty fall, or was he pushed?
‘To send all his horses and all his men,’ Alice interrupted, rather unwisely.

‘Now I declare that’s too bad!’ Humpty Dumpty cried, breaking into a sudden passion.

‘You’ve been listening at doors — and behind trees — and down chimneys — or you couldn’t have known it!’

‘I haven’t indeed!’ Alice said very gently. ‘It’s in a book.’

The Fairway Galle Literary Festival offers you all the fun of listening at doors – and behind trees – and down chimneys – rather rare in the tropics – with much less work!

From 24 to 28 January 2018, Galle will once more come alive with the secret lives of murderers and madmen, of travelers and trains, of queens and quadrangles, all revealed in books.

Did Humpty Dumpty fall, or was he pushed? Can we know? Must we ask?

THE FAIRWAY GALLE LITERARY FESTIVAL 2018

The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Caroll

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“To talk of many things:
Of shoes – and ships – and sealing-wax –
Of cabbages – and kings –
And why the sea is boiling hot –
And whether pigs have wings.”

FGLF

Just five months from now, the ninth edition of The Fairway Galle Literary Festival will indeed be a time to talk of many things: in the presence of the ghosts of ships past and present and amidst the sealing shadows of a Fort whose very walls might speak, FGLF will continue to tell the stories of cabbages and kings – of empires and queens – of why the whole world in boiling hot – and whether it matters if pigs have wings.

In addition to providing a platform for first-class literary readings and panel discussions, FGLF will continue to include within its capacious wingspan expert presentations on developments in the fine arts, in medicine, in the law and in contemporary environmental issues.

Await FGLF 2018: truly a Festival of Letters!
