Celebrating the Art of Slow Textiles

Join Shamji Vankar Vishram Valji for a rare demonstration on a small hand loom at Tallentire House’s beautiful new Galle Fort shop. A master weaver from Bhujodi, Kutch, Shamji will share the skill and patience behind his craft, before giving a short talk about his lifelong weaving journey.

Shamji has championed slow textiles for decades, creating exquisite handmade pieces using the finest natural fibers — merino wool, desi wool, silk, and kala cotton — through collaborations with designers including Lindsay Taylor of Tallentire Taylored Living. His beautiful textiles, woven with history, tradition, and artistry, will also be available for purchase — each piece a true story of love and connection.
