Kanishka Gupta is a literary agent based in New Delhi, India. He represents a diverse range of highly accomplished debut authors, as well as award-winning authors of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Among them are Booker-winning authors and translators Daisy Rockwell, Banu Mushtaq, and Deepa Bhasthi. Some of his other prominent writers include Avni Doshi, whose Booker-shortlisted novel Girl in White Cotton (Burnt Sugar) was first represented by him in the Indian subcontinent; Jerry Pinto, recipient of the Windham-Campbell Prize for both novels and poetry; Anees Salim, a multi-award-winning novelist; B. Jeyamohan, a Tamil writer; Lindsay Pereira; Ranjit Hoskote; and Rijula Das, among others. He has also collaborated closely with Shehan Karunatilaka, the winner of the 2022 Man Booker Prize.
In addition to his publishing endeavors, he curated a critically acclaimed series for Scroll.in titled “Publishing and the Pandemic.” This series features comprehensive reports, commentaries, and first-person accounts detailing the impact of the pandemic on publishing in the Indian subcontinent and beyond.
