Ute Krause

We are delighted to welcome illustrator and children’s book author Ute Krause to the 2018 Fairway Galle Literary Festival as a participant in the FGLF Children’s Programme.

Ute Krause is the author of more than sixty children s books published in Germany and throughout the world. Since 1985 she has published 16 picture books, so far written four children’s novels and illustrated over 400 picture and children’s books. Her multifaceted works also include short and documentary films, cartoons for the star and screenplays.

Her books have been translated into many languages ​​worldwide and filmed for television. Her work has received many awards including the Nomination Eulenspiegelpreis (2002), Book d. Month of the German Academy for Children’s and Youth Literature (2003), Golden Sparrow in the category Prize of the Children’s Jury (2008) and the Ver.di Literature Prize Berlin-Brandenburg for The Musceteers (2016).

Ute Krause grew up in Turkey, Nigeria, Cyprus and India, spent many years in the USA and currently lives in Berlin with her family. She began studying Visual Communication in Berlin and then moved to New York as a Fulbright Fellow and finally to the Munich Film School.
