Jean Arasanayagam

The 2017 Fairway Galle Literary Festival is delighted to welcome Jean Arasanayagam (Sponsored by the Gratiaen Trust).

Jean Arasanayagam is one of Sri Lanka’s most prolific and foremost international writers.

She has published fiction, poetry, drama and creative non-fiction and has 46 books to her name so far. Her themes include ethnicity, gender, inheritance, politics, travel, post-colonialism, personal relationships and identity.

She has received many awards for her writing, globally and internationally, and her work has been translated into Danish, Swedish, French, and Japanese among other languages.

She received a Doctor of Letters for her lifetime work in literature by Bowdoin College, Maine, U.S.A and the Premchand Fellowship by the Sahitya Akademi of India.
