We are delighted to welcome crime-fiction writer and poet Sophie Hannah to the 2017 Fairway Galle Literary Festival.
Sophie Hannah is an internationally-known, bestselling writer of psychological crime fiction and a poet. Her work has been published in 32 languages and in 51 territories.
In 2013, her novel ‘The Carrier’, won Crime Thriller of the Year Award at the Specsavers National Book Awards.
Her crime novels, ‘The Point of Rescue’ (2008) and ‘The Other Half Lives’ (2009), have been adapted for television (The Case Sensitive Series on ITV1 in 2011 and 2012 starring Olivia Williams in the lead role of characters DS Charlie Zailer and Darren Boyd as DC Simon Waterhouse)

In 2014, with the blessing of Agatha Christie’s family and estate, Sophie published a new Hercule Poirot novel, ‘The Monogram Murders’, which was a bestseller in more than 15 countries.
This was followed by her second Poirot novel, ‘Closed Casket’ (2016).
Sophie Hannah has also published two short story collections and five collections of poetry – including ‘Pessimism for Beginners’(2007), which was shortlisted for the 2007 T.S. Eliot Award.
Sophie published her first book of poems, ‘The Hero and the Girl Next Door’, at the age of 24 and in 2004, she was named one of the Poetry Book Society’s Next Generation poets.
Her poetry is studied at GCSE, A-level and degree level across the UK.
She lives with her husband, children and dog in Cambridge, England, where she is a Fellow Commoner at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge.
