Savin Edirisinghe

Speaker

Savin Edirisinghe is a Sri Lankan writer, storyteller, and unapologetic eavesdropper. His debut short story collection, Kata Katha – a sharp, witty exploration of gossip, rumour, and everyday silence – won the 32nd Gratiaen Prize, making him one of the youngest recipients of the award. Savin’s writing moves between English and Sinhala, humour and heartbreak, performance and confession. Born in Imaduwa, in the deep south of Sri Lanka, he now balances his time between writing, overthinking, and working in marketing. He believes stories are best told the way they’re overheard: messy, intimate, and just a little dangerous. He’s also a wannabe poet – “Aren’t we all?” he says with a shrug.
