A born and bred Sri Lankan, Tasha has spent most of her life between Sri Lanka and the UK. Her family background is varied. She is often referred to as a real ‘achcharu’ – like the dish, she is a delicious mix of everything. Her father is a Colombo Moor, and her mother is both Colombo Chetty and Sinhalese, making her a good representation of the island.
Tasha graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In her late twenties, she pivoted her career to follow her passion for food. The food of her country is her obsession and this led her to author her first cookbook, Jayaflava. Tasha seeks to celebrate Sri Lanka and its food in all its glory; its multiculturalism, its diverse traditions, its modern evolution, its authentic and unique preparation, and its warmth.
Jayaflava was awarded Third Prize in Excellence in Book Production 2024 by The Federation of Indian Publishers in the Category of Art and Coffee Table books.
