Vidyan Ravinthiran was born in Leeds — in the North of England — to Sri Lankan Tamils and now teaches at Harvard. He is an award-winning poet, editor, literary critic and memoirist. His most recent books are Avidya (Bloodaxe, 2025), a poetry collection shaped by myth and philosophy, and by Sri Lankan as well as global crises, and Asian/Other: Life, Poems, and the Problem of Memoir (Norton, 2025), a fusion of life-writing and poetry criticism. With Shash Trevett and Seni Seneviratne, he also edited Out of Sri Lanka (Bloodaxe, 2023), an anthology of Sri Lankan and diasporic poetry.
