Your Life in Words
Thursday, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM

In this three-hour collaborative workshop for beginner memoir writers, you will consider the most transformative moments of your life and set the groundwork for a scene-writing adventure, which can become the foundation for your memoir’s first draft. We will define an initial thesis, develop a preliminary list of scenes, and work on the beginning of one scene to help define what it means to write “in-scene” and outside of it. This workshop is an exploratory adventure with supportive peers, designed for newcomers as well as those who attended Marguerite Richards‘ introduction to memoir writing at GLF 2024. There is no pressure to produce masterful prose or to read your work in front of the group, but please do be prompt, and bring your favourite writing tools, digital or analogue. There will be a 20-minute coffee breather in between.
