Elegant Amangalla hotel plays host to two sensational poets, both Fellows of the Royal Society of Literature in the UK. This is a rare poetic appearance by Romesh Gunesekera, sharing pieces from a lifetime of thoughtful observation – including poems published in the 2023 anthology Out of Sri Lanka. Romesh is joined by acclaimed poet Tishani Doshi, whose bold, lyrical writing – in Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods and A God at the Door fizzes with fury and defiance. Guy Gunaratne leads the event, offering insights on pieces by both poets.
