Gather opposite the Dutch Reformed Church for an atmospheric night tour with Tharanga, archaeologist at the Galle Heritage Foundation. Also a cultural heritage interpreter, Tharanga charts Galle’s long history as a trading port, with connections to 13th- and 14th-century Arab traders and Chinese navigators through this guided walk. Discover the Portuguese-built Black Fort, wander along imposing fortifications constructed to defend the growing town during the Dutch and British eras, and admire the iconic landmarks which stud the Fort’s skyline as day gives way to evening.
